Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 10:02 a.m. Thursday, April 20, to Poplar Bluff Medical Clinic and Bluff Imaging, 2588 N. Westwood Blvd., to a flower bed at the driveway with a smoldering fire.

According to Capt. Toby Tuggle, the crew of five firefighters used the booster line and 100 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. Occupants had attempted to extinguish the fire with extinguishers but the materials underneath made it difficult. This was the third time in a week the same landscape company’s mulch was smoldering, according to the report.

Firefighters responded at 7:27 p.m. Thursday, April 20, to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 599 E. Pine Blvd.

According to the report by Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon, firefighters arrived to find one vehicle on the side of the road with two patients inside. The second vehicle had left the scene. Firefighters checked the patients for injuries, stayed with them until Butler County EMS arrived and assisted EMS load the patient for transport to the emergency room, according to the report. Firefighters remained on scene until Casey’s Towing loaded the vehicle. Poplar Bluff Police Department and six firefighters were at the scene.

Firefighters responded at 5:52 p.m. Thursday, April 20, to 1410 Spring St., to assist Butler County EMS with preparing a patient with a broken leg to transport to the local emergency room.

According to the report by Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon, three crew members were on the scene.

Firefighters responded at 11:33 a.m. Thursday, April 20, to Ozark Federal Credit Union, 2438 Katy Lane, to a smoke detector activation. It was a false alarm.

Firefighters responded at 12:47 a.m., Friday, April 21, to a call about heavy smoke inside a residence at 1234 N. 10th St.

According to Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon’s report, the alarm company had called the Poplar Bluff police and advised the occupant was exiting the house. The source of the smoke was traced to an appliance in the kitchen. The occupant was listed as Nicholas Stewart.
