City firefighters responded at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, to a structure fire at the 304 W. Victor St. home owned by Richard Pierce and occupied by Brooke Richman and Nathan Jones. City firefighters responded at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, to a structure fire at the 304 W. Victor St. home owned by Richard Pierce and occupied by Brooke Richman and Nathan Jones.

Firefighters used 100 gallons of water to extinguish a fire on an exterior wall and checked the attic for additional fire.

The state fire marshal and Poplar Bluff Police are investigating.

City firefighters responded at 9:24 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, to a report of two children locked inside a house at 941 Poplar St.

Owner Cynthie Mathews reported she stepped outside and one of the children must have locked the door.

Firefighters made forced entry and found the children safe. Investigation found the door knob was broken, and the children did not lock the door.

County firefighters responded at 1:28 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, to gas leak at the intersection of Oak Grove Road and County Road 437.

According to the reports, crews hit a four-inch gas line, and firefighter stood by until it was repaired.
