City firefighters responded at 7:02 p.m. Monday, March 16, to a report of a structure fire at 1328 Tremont St.
According to the report, firefighters found the fire was at the 1308 Gardner St. residence, owned by Vernon Barker of Neelyville.
Upon their arrival, the home’s attic was fully involved and flames were coming out of its roof.
During a walk around of the home, it was found it previously had burned, and the fire wasn’t as advanced as originally thought.
Firefighters entered the residence and used 2,000 gallons of water to put out the fire.
The home had no utilities.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
