City firefighters responded at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, to a report of a smoke/carbon monoxide detector sounding at the 1706 Sanders St. residence owned by Julius Hightower.

According to the report, firefighters used a multigas meter to check the residence. There were no gas appliances in the home.

The detector was found to be faulty, and fighters told Hightower to get a new one.

City firefighters responded at 8:09 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, to a motor-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main and Davis streets.

According to the report, firefighters assisted emergency-medical-services personnel with patient care and cleared debris from the road. Firefighters remained on the scene until the vehicles were removed.

City firefighters responded at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, to a report of an unauthorized burn at the intersection of Cole Avenue and Cliff Street.

According to the report, firefighters found a resident burning leaves in his yard at 1042 Cole Ave. The fire reportedly met all the criteria in the city’s burn ordinance.

According to the report, firefighters used a multigas meter to check the apartment. Nothing was found.

According to the report, firefighters found an unauthorized burn behind the 723 Lester St. residence owned by Lyle Jett.

Firefighters reportedly contacted Jett and used 15 gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 11:09 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, to a motor-vehicle crash at 2783 N. Westwood Blvd.

According to the report, firefighters removed debris from the road and remained on the scene until the vehicles were removed.

City firefighters responded at 2:27 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, to an alarm at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, 1500 N. Westwood Blvd. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, to assist emergency-medical-services personnel in packaging and loading a patient for transport a 415 W. Harper St.

According to the report, firefighters returned to the residence at 10:13 a.m. to assist EMS in unloading the patient and taking the patient back into his or her home.
