City firefighters responded at 7:05 p.m. Monday, June 8, to a motor-vehicle crash at 2770 N. Westwood Blvd. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 6:44 p.m. Monday, June 8, to a structure fire at the 1114 W. Harper St. residence occupied by Jennifer Parson and owned by Bob Sutton Realty.

According to the report, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the single-story residence. Neighbors reported no one was at home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters forcibly entered the home and used the department’s thermal-imaging camera to see through the heavy smoke. Firefighters used 200 gallons of water to put out the fire in one corner of the home.

A positive-pressure-ventilation fan was set up at the front door to remove smoke.

Firefighters removed the wall and ceiling covering/drywall to check for exposure and extinguish any embers left burning or smoldering.

Municipal Utilities and Spire personnel responded to shut off the electric, water and gas to the home.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Firefighter Travis Taylor reportedly was injured while exiting one of the fire trucks. He did not seek medical treatment.

City firefighters responded at 1:25 p.m. Monday, June 8, to a report of smoke in the area of Seventh and Lester streets.

According to the report, firefighters found an unauthorized burn at the 733 Lester St. residence occupied by Lyle Jett.

Firefighters reportedly told Jett about the city’s burn ordinance and used 10 gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 1:09 p.m. Monday, June 8, to a report of smoke coming from the manhole near the intersection of Kanell Boulevard and Maud Street.

According to the report, firefighters found work was being done on the sewer system, which caused steam to come up.

County firefighters responded 5:14 p.m. Monday, June 8, to a motor-vehicle crash on U.S. 60 at County Road 586.

According to the report, extrication was not needed.

County firefighters responded at 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, to a report of a tree on fire in the 6200 block of Highway T.

According to the report, the tree was on the power lines and had caught fire. Firefighters stood by until Ozark Border Electric Cooperative personnel arrived.
