City firefighters responded at 10:42 p.m. Thursday, June 25, to a vehicle fire at the railroad depot, 400 S. Main St.

According to the report, firefighters found smoke coming from the front passenger side window of a 2011 Jeep Patriot, owned by Aunri Stevens of St. Louis.

Firefighters used 200 gallons of water on the passenger side of the vehicle to put out the fire.

The SUV’s doors were locked, and the front passenger door panel was melted, which would not allow firefighters to unlock the door.

Firefighters used a Halligan bar to break the front driver’s side window, so they could unlocked the doors and unlatch the hood.

The battery cables were disconnected, and the department’s thermal-imaging camera was used to search for any remaining fire. None was found.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
