City firefighters responded at 2:50 a.m. Monday, June 10, to an alarm at the Poplar Bluff Regional Center, 2501 Sunset Terrace. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 9:37 p.m. Monday, June 10, to a report of a smoke odor at the old city parking garage, 101 Oak St.
According to the report, a police officer smelled smoke while dropping off a vehicle at the garage.
Firefighters checked the structure and all its electrical using the department’s thermal-imaging camera, but no source was found.

City firefighters responded at 7:12 p.m. Monday, June 10, to a report of a possible fire at the 1810 Thomas St. residence owned by Vernon Pennington Jr.
According to the report, firefighters found an authorized burn of tree limbs in the backyard.
Pennington reported he was burning limbs in an attempt to clean up his yard. He further reported someone was coming to haul off the materials piled in the driveway.
Firefighters told Pennington he could continue burning, but the fire had to be out by dark.

City firefighters responded at 6:17 p.m. Monday, June 10, to a report of a possible natural gas leak at 810 Emma St.
According to the report, Spire gas company employees reported a neighbor had called because of a gas odor.
An employee took an air sample through an open window and registered a reading. The gas was shut off to the home.
Firefighters were called to stand by and subsequently entered the structure and ventilated the structure.
After a positive-pressure ventilation fan was set up, the gas employee again checked the home and no gas was detected.
Gas company employees found a gas line running to the water heater had been cut and crimped.
