City firefighters responded at 5:55 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, to a motor-vehicle crash at the intersection of Rowe Parkway and Highway 142.

City firefighters responded at 8:02 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, to a report of a vehicle fire at the intersection of Bradley and Lexington.

According to the report, firefighters found smoke coming out of the passenger area of a 1999 Ford pickup, owned Hefner’s Furniture & Appliance. Flames also were coming from a rag, which was stuck in the fuel filler hole.

As firefighters were putting out the fire involving the rag, the driver’s door was opened on the still-running truck and found a fire had been ignited in the driver’s seat using a road flare.

Firefighters used 10 gallons of water to put out the fires, which are being investigated by the police department and State Fire Marshal’s Office.

City firefighters responded at 2:19 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, to a motor-vehicle crash in the 2600 block of North Westwood Boulevard.

According to the report, firefighters found a vehicle had struck a curb and the driver unresponsive. Firefighters attempted to communicate with the driver, as well as a passenger, who was disoriented about what had happened.

Firefighters remained on the scene until both were transported to a hospital for treatment, and a wrecker removed the vehicle.
