City firefighters responded at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, to a report of a grass fire at the 1301 Lurlyn Road residence owned by Ronald Cummings. According to the report, firefighters found a brush fire burning behind the residence. City firefighters responded at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, to a report of a grass fire at the 1301 Lurlyn Road residence owned by Ronald Cummings.

According to the report, firefighters found a brush fire burning behind the residence.

Firefighters used rakes and water to start putting out the fire and later used “brush lines” to put out hot spots.

Firefighters also used a leaf blower to make a fire line around the fire.

About 200 gallons of water was used to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 2:11 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, to an alarm at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, 621 W. Pine St. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, to a report of an unauthorized burn near the intersection of Fair and Henry streets.

According to the report, firefighters found an unauthorized burn involving building materials from a residential demolition being burned at the 914 W. Henry St. residence owned by Wendell Hendrix.

Firefighters reportedly told Hendrix about the city’s burn ordinance and used 100 gallons of water to put out the fire.
