County firefighters responded at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, to a report of a fire in the 1500 block of County Road 553.

According to the report, the fire was found to be a controlled burn.

County firefighters responded at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, to a reported vehicle fire on County Road 456.

According to the report, the vehicle was found to be in Ripley County and K Highway firefighters already were on the scene.

City firefighters responded at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, to a report of a man lighting a bag of trash on fire and running away in the parking lot of the trailer court at 360 S. 11th St.

According to the report, firefighters found a bag of trash and a car tire on fire. Firefighters used 10 gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, to a report of a dumpster fire at Dairy Queen, 2730 N. Westwood Blvd.

According to the report, firefighters were told en route that Dairy Queen employees had used a fire extinguisher on the fire, but it still was burning.

Upon their arrival, firefighters found no fire or smoke in the commercial-size dumpster, but did find some trash smoldering.

Firefighters used 25 gallons of water to put out the remaining fire.

City firefighters responded at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, to assist emergency-medical-services personnel in lifting a patient for transport at 1305 Gray St.

According to the report, firefighters helped move the person from his or her bed using a soft stretcher to a wheeled stretcher. Firefighters then helped to load the person into an ambulance.

Firefighters returned to the home at 7:51 p.m. to assist EMS in lifting the patient back into his or her home.

Firefighters reportedly helped to unload the person from the ambulance and then moved the patient using a soft stretcher from the wheeled stretcher to bed.

City firefighters responded at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, to a request from Poplar Bluff Housing Authority personnel to assist a woman who needed help getting into a chair at 445 N. Second St.

According to the report, firefighters helped the woman into a chair in her living room and made sure she was able to use her walker to get around her apartment on her own.

City firefighters responded at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, to a report of an unauthorized burn on Bearden Street.

According to the report, firefighters found a small leaf fire behind 605 Bearden St.

Firefighters reportedly told the occupant about the city’s burn ordinance, and he put out the fire.
