City firefighters responded at 11:29 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, to an alarm at the 817 W. Victor St. residence occupied by Patrick Oxley and owned by Eve Oxley. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 3:13 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, to a report of a structure fire in the 1900 block of Woodrow Street.

According to the report, firefighters found flames coming from one side of a home at 1901 Woodrow St.

Firefighters began extinguishing the fire through a window and then entered the structure.

A positive-pressure ventilation fan was set up to clear smoke and heat from the home.

Firefighters pulled the home’s ceiling to gain access to hot spots and used 6,000 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Spire employees were called to the scene.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
