City firefighters responded at 3:53 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, to a report of a gas odor at 215 S. Broadway. It was investigation only.
According to the report, Spire gas had just received a shipment of the odorant that is added to natural gas, and the smell was coming from the shipment.

City firefighters responded at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, to a report of a structure fire at the 1509 Thomas St. residence occupied by William Jones and owned by Bruce Jenkins.
According to the report, firefighters found smoke showing from a single-story structure upon their arrival and saw a small fire in the area of the front door.
Firefighters forcibly entered the home and used 10 gallons of water to put out the fire.
Positive-pressure ventilation was set up, and firefighters searched the home’s interior, but did not find anyone inside.
Municipal Utilities and gas company personnel, as well as the city’s building inspector, were notified about the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
