City firefighters responded at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May, 27 to a motor vehicle accident at Vine and Fifth streets. City firefighters responded at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May, 27 to a motor vehicle accident at Vine and Fifth streets. There were no injuries.

City firefighters responded at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, May, 27, to a vehicle fire at Shelby Road and Highway 53. A passerby had a fire extinguisher and had put out the fire when the firefighters arrived. The battery had shorted and they assisted with removal.

City firefighters responded at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, May, 27, to a building fire at 1028 Kinzer St. The fire, which was in an exhaust fan above the stove, had been put out with water and a blanket. The maintenance man arrived and turned off power to the apartment. The firefighters use a fan to remove the smoke from the apartment and checked for hot spots.

City firefighters responded at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, May, 27, to the Three Rivers College Porter Learning Center where reportedly smoke was coming from a light in the building. Firefighters were shown a ground light for the flagpole in the front parking lot of the building, which had steam coming off of it due to wet mulch covering it. They used the boost line and sprayed the mulch off of the light.
