William Christopher Taylor, 45, of 1400 block of Alice Street, was arrested Thursday, July 8, on contempt of court. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

Residents in the 500 and the 600 blocks of County Road 467 reported between the end of June and early July, packages delivered to their mailboxes were stolen.
The residents provided the deputies with lists of missing items and agreed they will pursue charges.

Monday, July 5, a resident of County Road 630 at Broseley reported a backhoe was stolen between June 27 and June 29.

A storage business on East Outer Road reported about 1 a.m. Sunday, July 4, a male suspect entered the business property by cutting through the fence located on the east side of the property. He alledgedly cut the lock on one unit, partially cut the lock on a second unit, and the doors on a camper were damaged. The suspect was seen on security cameras.
POPLAR BLUFF POLICE
Travis Mitchell Bond, 37, of Qulin was arrested Thursday, July 8, on a failure to appear warrant for DWI. He was booked into the Butler County jail.
POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 1:43 p.m. Thursday, July 8, to 624 Ashcroft Road to a report of a strong odor of propane in the area. They made several trips through the area but were unable to locate the odor.

Firefighters responded at 2:04 p.m. Thursday, July 8, to a reported structure fire at Fifth and Kinzer streets but were unable to locate it. They saw smoke behind 510 Kinzer Street, where the owner was burning brush in the backyard. They advised him of the city’s burn ordinances. He was permitted to continue as an authorized controlled burn.

Firefighters responded at 12:15 a.m. Friday, July 9, to a report of smoke in an area around 1200 N. Fifth street. They drove circling the area and no smoke was found.
