Karen Woolard
Karen Danise Woolard, 62, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Dec. 21, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Karen was born Sept. 18, 1962, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Danner and Shirley McCauley. She graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1980. After high school Karen joined the family business, Gamma Labs, where she worked until it sold in 1991. She then owned and operated Sunset Travel Agency. Karen and her husband, Dieter, formed Woolard’s Lawn Care in 2001.
Karen was a fiercely loyal and devoted wife, sister, daughter, aunt, friend and dog mom with an infectious laugh and great sense of humor. To know her was to know someone who bravely faced years of health challenges without letting them hold her back from enjoying life. Karen was a compassionate and empathetic person who put others’ needs ahead of hers. She always remembered everyone’s birthdays, cared for her friends, and was the biggest cheerleader for everyone in her family. She was also always ready and willing to entertain, travel, shop, go out to dinner, go to a beach, or experience something new.
Karen was a member of Westwood Hills Country Club Ladies’ Golf Association, a past member of Beta Sigma Phi, and participated yearly in various charitable activities such as the Perfect Christmas Promise. She was of the Baptist faith.
Karen is survived by her husband, Dieter Woolard; her mother, Shirley McCauley; her brothers, Greg McCauley (Brenda) and Gary McCauley (Connie); her brother-in-law, Monte Woolard (Melissa); her nieces and nephews, Brett McCauley (Annie), Caitlyn Jones(Blaine), Cory Henson (Luke), Lori McClure (Chuck), Jeff Riggs, Ashley Waite (Stephen), Danner McCauley (Ashley), Nick Woolard, and Nathan Woolard (Andrea) and her great-nieces and nephews, Karsten McCauley, Kinley McCauley, Layken Jones, Ashton Jones, Wynne Henson, Storm McClure, Garrett McClure, Jude Riggs, Max Waite, Mason Waite, Austin McCauley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darrell and Carol Woolard, and a host of friends who loved her.
