New city manager selected

The Poplar Bluff City Council selected Robert Knodell to be the next city manager Monday evening. The vote was unanimous. The council conducted interviews for the position Dec. 3. He was selected from a pool of 14 candidates following the resignation of Matt Winters. His first day will be Jan. 27. Interim City Manager Lori Phelps will return to her position as city clerk. Knodell is a Poplar Bluff native and currently serves as the director of the Missouri Department of Social Services under Governor Mike Parson.
