Lowanda F. Sanders, 97, of Fisk, Missouri, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024.

Mrs. Sanders was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Qulin, Missouri, daughter of the late William Franklin and Lovanda Wagster (ne้ Pillow).

She became a licensed funeral director in 1976 and has remained a fixture at White-Sanders Funeral Home for the last 48 years. In addition to her devotion to the funeral home, Wanda was still actively enjoying gardening, canning, and driving her golf cart until February of 2024. She was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.

On Dec. 9, 1949, she married Rev. Robert F. Sanders. He preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1992. She is survived by one son: Jim (Kathy) Sanders of Fisk; two grandchildren: Justin (Christina) Sanders of Fisk and Jamie (Steve) Burkhead of Broseley; six great-grandchildren: Daniel and Liam Sanders, Holly (Chris) Burch, Joshua Wicker, Emilie (Cody) Stoutt, and Owen Burkhead; four great-great-grandchildren: Parker, Adalynn, Otto, and Riley; and one bonus granddaughter: Amber Nelson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Wanda was also preceded in death by three siblings: Wayne Wagster, Erma Arnold, and Loeda Jewell; and one great-grandson: Elijah Sanders.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Byron Beck and Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley.
