Phyllis York
Phyllis Jane York, 69, of Hazard, Kentucky, formerly Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Saturday, Nov.16, 2024, at Hazard Regional Medical Center in Hazard.
Phyllis was born Jan. 22, 1955, to Robert and Pauline (Nixon) Wood in Poplar Bluff. After the passing of her father, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, William Carman. She married Larry York Aug. 13, 1974, in Poplar Bluff.
Phyllis was an avid reader and crafter. She enjoyed attending and participating in crafts shows over the years. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Larry York; daughter, Tabitha York (Wilson); two sons, Daniel York and David (Sonya) York; two sisters, Glenda Townsend (Ben) and Janice Banderman (Stan); Bon Fugate, whom she considered to be a son; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Lara, Jacob, Avery, Phoebe, Penelope, Wilson Jr., Patrick, and Emilianne; five great-grandchildren, Zelda, Brantley, Elliott, Rhys, and Doug; best friend and canine companion, Missy; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Holifield; brother, Robert “Buddy” Wood.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-noon Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff. Funeral service will follow beginning at noon with Pastor Michael Kelley officiating. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
