Kevin Harris
Kevin Lamar Harris was a dedicated and ambitious man who lived with a strong belief in faith and unquestionable love.
Kevin was born Feb. 5, 1974, in Cleveland Ohio to the late Garfield Harris and Kathern (Ferguson) Harris. Kevin and Quianda (Stanley) Harris were united in marriage Dec. 3, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kevin and his family moved to Poplar Bluff, Missouri in 1979. He confessed a belief in Christ at an early age and attended Central Missionary Baptist Church. Kevin graduated from Poplar Bluff Senior High School in 1992 with a successful academic and athletic journey. He enthusiastically participated in wrestling, track, cross-country and robot designs.
Kevin received his Bachelor of Science degree at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Kevin established lifelong friendships during his years at Lincoln University. Kevin was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and cherished the values it represented. His commitment to the fraternity was a testament to his character and his deep respect for service. He received his master’s degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and his Doctorate in Information Systems and Cybersecurity from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida.
Kevin worked more than 25 years in information technology and cyber security. His career was marked by various significant roles at public and private institutions, reflecting his dedication to education, specifically closing the digital divide among the underrepresented and on HBCU campuses.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Dr. Quianda (Stanley) Harris; his mother, Kathern (Ferguson) Harris; his sister, Lori Lynn Harris; his longtime friends and fraternity brothers, Corey (Elaina) Shannon, and Sharif (Natasha) Walker; his sister-in-law, Torria (Charles) Jackson; his nieces, Jayla Torres and Cree Jackson; and a host of family and friends.
Kevin’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and the many lives he impacted.
A service to celebrate Kevin’s life will be held at Lee Chapel AME Church, 1200 Dr. DB Todd Blvd., Nashville, TN 37208.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at Wheatley School, Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to Lincoln University Foundation.
