Harry Griffin Doyle Jr., 95 of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed peacefully Monday, Sept. 30, 2024 living a full independent life, he was truly blessed.

The son of the late Harry and Lorene (Mclver) Doyle, Harry Jr., was born in Oglesville, Missouri Aug. 15, 1929, and was the oldest of three children. Harry was named after his father, but also many relatives and friends fondly knew him as Junior, Bubble and Bill.

Harry’s journey began in life when he decided to join the Army and leave the family farm, and soon he realized that a military career would be his path. His country meant everything to him as he served in the United States Army for 22 years, received many honors and retired honorably as a Sergeant Major E- 9.

During his military career, he met the love of his Life and married Golden Helen Conrad, they raised two daughters, Linda and Terri. In their retirement years, Harry and Helen traveled with their 5th wheel and frequented Arizona to spend the winters with friends, daily rounds of golf and enjoying the weather. Harry was an avid golfer and lover of all things golf. He has had several Holes-in-One. He took part in the men’s league at Hickory Hills Golf Course, he had a friendly competitive nature, a spirit to entertain, socialize and share stories. Over the years, he played with the best group of guys and cherished their time spent together as lifelong friends. Harry also loved playing cards with his friends and family, his favorite being Hearts.

Lastly, Harry was well known socially around the community, and was known on a first name basis at many local businesses and restaurants, his favorite being Randy’s Restaurant. He so loved it there.

Harry is survived by his daughters, Terri (Robert) Krings of Eau Claire and Linda (Bob) of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Rhenda Ludwigsen of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; grandchildren Dan (Jackie) of Winterset, Iowa and Scott Baer of Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ella Baer, three beloved nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Harry is preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, and his brother Dennis

The celebration of life will be held at noon Oct. 18, 2024 at Stokes, Prock, & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway Altoona, Wisconsin. Inurnment with military honors will follow the celebration at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation a local veterans charity or to Feed My People Food Pantry.
