A relief fundraiser for the victims for Hurricane Helene living in Hartford, Tennessee will be held Friday at the Historic Rogers Theatre. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 6 p.m.

Donations will be taken at the door. A silent auction also willl be held during the event to raise funds for the victims.

The Bluegrass Gospel show featuring five local groups will include Mainline, the Punches Family, the Harper Collective, the Bob Lewis Family and Country Fire Clogger. The master of ceremonies will be Brett Russell.

Nanette Jordan said, “The devastation that Hurricane Helene has brought is heartbreaking. We all want to help in some way and here’s your chance to help and enjoy excellent entertainment at the same time.”

All the proceeds will be distributed to Pigeon Valley Baptist Church.

Jordan said, “We have bluegrass friends in Hartford. That church is where they go to church. We wanted to be able to have a church to send everything to so we know exactly where it’s going.”

Jordan grew up in the bluegrass community.

“The Bob Lewis family is my family, my mom and dad, and there’s seven of us kids, and each kid has married and had kids, and they formed groups of their own,” Jordan said.

The Lewis families’ friend, Eli Johnson, plays with the Authentic Unlimited Bluegrass Band. His church is a hub for the donations in the town, which is an unincorporated community in Cocke County.

”They are dispersing it as needed, where needed at the time,” she said.

So Jordan and her sibling “grew up playing music with Eli when we were kids. We grew up with Eli, running around bluegrass festivals. We would like for everybody to come out and help support the cause and hopefully raise some money.”

For those unable to attend the concert or they want to give a bigger donation than they want to drop in the box. Jordan explains they may write a check directly to the church and “they can get in touch with me, and I can meet them somewhere. I can get it where it needs to go.”

Jordan said, “we’re still taking donations for the silent auctioning to be held that night at the Rogers.”

Any items that’s worth anything are welcome, she said.

“I’ve had a couple jewelry stores and a couple restaurants donate,” she said. “I’ve had some homemade items donated. I’ve had quite a few donations of miscellaneous items. Some things are homemade, and some things are from businesses here in town.”

Jordan and her family want to thank the Rodgers Theatre board of directors and volunteers for donating the use of the historic theater and their time to help with the event.

Anyone who wants to donate to the silent auction or would like to make a donation to the relief effort but will not be attending the Friday event may call Jordan at 573-429-3035 and leave a message on her phone.
