MAIN EVENT: Halloween begins early

This weekend offers early Halloween opportunities for fans of cars and pets, as well as a father-daughter dance.

A trunk or treat will be held Friday on Main Street during the last Downtown Cruise-In of the year. It will be from 5-9 p.m.

A Costume Leash March will follow at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Dog Park. Starting at 6 p.m., the canine costume is part of events for the Butler County Fair. The fair, with activities starting in September, will also include the Chalk Bluff Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Friday. It will be held at Ray Clinton Park.

The annual Masonic Youth Father-Daughter Dance will be from 4:30-10 p.m. Saturday at the Black River Coliseum. Including hundreds of area youth, this night out for families includes a carriage ride to the event and dinner.

— Downtown Cruise In, 5-9 p.m. Oct. 11 WHERE Main Street WHAT A trunk or treat will be held.

— Chalk Bluff Rodeo, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11. WHERE Ray Clinton Park. COST $15 for adults, and children 5 and under are free. Hook fee is $10. WHAT The Chalk Bluff Rodeo is one of the final events of the Butler County Fair.

— Costume Leash March, 6 p.m. Oct. 12. WHERE Downtown Poplar Bluff Dog Park. WHAT A canine costume contest to wrap up the Butler County Fair.

— Poplar Bluff Masonic Youth Father-Daughter Dance, 4:30-10 p.m. Oct. 12 WHERE Black River Coliseum COST Tickets available from Eventbrite.com WHAT Includes dinner and dancer, as well as horse-drawn carriage ride to the event.

— Rodgers Theatre Banquet, 6 p.m. Oct. 17 WHERE Black River Coliseum COST $30-$40 per ticket. WHAT This event helps support the Rodgers Theatre.

— Pinktober Saturday Walk, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 19. WHERE McLane Park. COST Free entrance. WHAT A charity walk promoting breast cancer awareness and benefiting local organizations providing mammograms, preventative screenings, and more. Food, T-shirts and more are available. — Broseley Homecoming, Oct. 19. WHERE Broseley Senior Community Center, 2470 County Road 650, Broseley. WHAT A day of food, family, games, music and more. Opens at 8 a.m.

— Harvest Cup 2024, noon-7 p.m. Oct. 20. WHERE The Dirt Shack, 508 Vine St. COST Free admission. WHAT a picnic-style community concert and celebration of autumn’s bounty, hosted by The Helpful Cultivators and The Dirt Shack. A flower and produce competition will be held; entries are due Oct. 11. — Cotton and Camels Festival, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 24. WHERE Ash and Front streets, Campbell. WHAT Campbell’s fourth annual downtown celebration featuring vendors, food trucks, a business window decorating contest, live music and camels. Clyde the Campbell High School mascot will be present, as will real camels for photo ops and rides.

— Bluff City Mallards Bingo Bash, 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24 WHERE The Grotto WHAT The event will include 10 games of bingo, a silent auction and many raffles. They will also raffle off a Divebomb Hyvert Blind.

— Mammos & Mocktails: Sip, Scan and Stay Health, noon Oct. 25. COST Free. WHERE Holiday Inn Ballroom. WHAT A Lunch & Learn with food, giveaways and a panel of experts. Visit pbrmc.com/events to register.

— Pumpkin Plunge, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 25. WHERE Black River Coliseum Aquatic & Fitness Center. COST $5. WHAT Go diving for pumpkins and hang out poolside to decorate your prize gourd. All participants get a candy goodie bag. Advised attire is a Halloween costume and swimsuit.

— Halloween Parents Nite Out, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Oct. 25. WHERE Xtreme Gymnastics. COST $29 pre-registration, $39 at the door. WHAT Parents are invited to drop off their kids ages 3-12 for a night of fun with a costume party, candy hunt, playtime, crafts, and a not-so-spooky maze. Pre-registration is due by Oct. 24. Children must be potty trained.

— Opry at the Rodgers, 7-9 p.m. Oct. 26 WHERE Rodgers Theatre WHAT Moon Pie Band will perform.

— Silver Screen Sundays, 2-4 p.m. Oct. 27 WHERE Rodgers Theatre WHAT Film will be “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.”

— Fall showcase, 7 p.m. Oct. 29 WHERE Tinnin Fine Arts Center COST Free WHAT TRC Music Department vocal and instrumental students perform diverse solos and ensembles and a “mini-musical” performance by the premier student musical theater ensemble.
