A Poplar Bluff Schools bus was involved in a motor vehicle crash early Wednesday morning north of Poplar Bluff.

According to Poplar Bluff R-1 Superintendent Dr. Aaron Cornman, the bus and a passenger vehicle collided on Highway 67 North at Township Line Road.

“It was at the intersection and the school bus was in the median to cross the southbound lane of Highway 67,” Cornman explained. “The crash is still under investigation, so we don’t know at this point how the collision happened.”

Cornman went on to say that no children were hurt in the wreck. Following examination by EMS, another school bus arrived to transport students. Some parents came to pick up their children.

Cornman expressed much gratitude to all the first responders who assisted at the scene.

“Thankfully, there were no serious injuries — as far as any students needing to be transported by ambulance,” Cornman noted. “There were bumps and bruises, and of course we encourage parents to have their children examined if they have any concerns. But the EMS did a great job of evaluating the children to make sure there weren’t serious injuries. I think everyone that was there to help did a fantastic job.”

Along with EMS, the Poplar Bluff Police Department, Poplar Bluff Fire Department, Butler County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.
