Mr. Dennis W. Brown, a longtime resident of the Patterson area, died in Poplar Bluff Sept. 11 at the age of 87.

Mr. Brown had a varied career and worked in the 1950s at labor jobs in the local area, an exploration team in Alaska, and twice at Boeing Airplane Co. in Seattle. The first time he worked at the Boeing Co. as an electrician and later as an electronics technician.

After enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, he received commissions as a reserve officer and later as a regular officer in the USAF, while serving as a B52 Bomber instructor pilot during the time of the Vietnam war. During this time he actually few one of the airplanes he installed electrical equipment on, years before while working at Boeing, possible the only time this has ever occurred. After his service he few for United Airlines, eventually retiring as a captain for United.

Interests included airplanes, motorcycles, hiking, camping and most other forms of outdoor activities.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia, who still resides in Missouri. He also has a son and daughter, Steven Brown and Katherine Leeman, both living in Colorado. Also surviving are four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one brother living in Washington state.
