Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to a residence in the 300 block of Apple Street in reference to property damage. It was determined that three subjects attempted to break into a parked vehicle, and caused damage to the vehicle in the process. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to a residence in the 2600 block of Hickman Road in reference to stealing. It was determined that a wallet was stolen from inside of a parked vehicle. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to the Pershing Street near Bacon Park, in reference to suspicious activity. An abandoned motor vehicle was located near this location, and it was determined to have been stolen. The stolen vehicle was removed, and the owner was notified that it had been located. Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to the intersection of Abington Street and Grand Avenue in reference to a vehicle in a ditch. Upon arrival, the vehicle was found to be abandoned, and was determined to have been stolen. The stolen vehicle was removed, and the owner was notified that it had been located. Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to a residence in the 500 block of South C Street in reference to fraud. It was determined that funds were taken from a bank account without authorization. It was determined to be a clerical error and the investigation was closed.

Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to a residence in the 2300 block of Kentucky Avenue in reference to found property. It was determined that a wallet had been found. The wallet was returned to its owner.

Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to a residence in the 700 block of Cherry Street in reference to a peace disturbance. It was determined to be a mutual dispute between neighbors, and both suspects were identified. Later, officers responded back, due to a physical altercation between two subjects. Both subjects were advised that they were under arrest. One subject retreated, refused to comply with directives and actively resisted; but was ultimately taken into custody. Patrick Scott, 41, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for peace disturbance, affray and resisting arrest. Steve Brown, 60, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested for peace disturbance and affray. Charges are being sought through the Poplar Bluff Municipal Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to the 2200 block of Autumn Road in reference to tampering with a motor vehicle. It was determined that a parked vehicle had been damaged as a result of attempted theft. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to the 300 block of South 5th Street in reference to property damage. It was determined that an HVAC system had been damaged in an attempt to steal metal from it. This investigation is ongoing.

While patrolling Monday, Sept. 9, officers located a wanted subject. The subject fled inside a residence, and attempted to escape from the residence and hide to avoid apprehension, but was ultimately located and taken into custody. Two additional subjects were arrested on scene as well. Charles Morlan, 51, of Poplar Bluff was arrested due to an outstanding arrest warrant. Carl Hiles, 37, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for hindering prosecution and possession of a controlled substance. William Hill was arrested for hindering prosecution and for an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded Monday, Sept. 9, to a business in the 100 block of South Westwood Boulevard in reference to a wellness check. Officers found a subject laying down in front of the business, and it was determined that the subject had been inhaling contents of an aerosol cannister. Blake Mitchell, 34, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for intentional inhalation of solvents/fumes. Charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Hart Street in reference to theft. While it was determined that theft of property had occurred at another location, the reporting party decided that he did not want to pursue charges at this time.

Officers responded the 800 block of Cole Avenue in reference to harassment. The matter was resolved without criminal charges, at the request of the reporting party.
