Officers conducted a traffic stop Wednesday, Sept. 4, near the intersection of 9th Street and Kinzer Street and during the course of this traffic stop, it was discovered that the operator of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Quindarius McGuire, 30, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.

Officers responded Wednesday, Sept. 4, to a residence in the 800 block of Foley Street in reference to an unattended death. It was determined that the subject had died from natural causes.

Officers responded Wednesday, Sept. 4, to the Senior Highschool in reference to an altercation between juveniles. Upon officer arrival, security staff had separated the juveniles, but one party continued to resist the security staff, as well as officers and was taken into custody, transported to the juvenile office and released to Juvenile Officers. This case will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office.

Officers responded Wednesday, Sept. 4, to the 400 block of Karen Drive, in reference to an animal control issue. It was determined that an unsupervised canine was causing issues in the neighborhood. This matter was forwarded to Animal Control for further investigation.

Officers were notified Wednesday, Sept. 4, of a theft that occurred in Poplar Bluff. It was determined that a resident of another state had his firearm stolen from his vehicle, while it was parked in Poplar Bluff. This investigation is ongoing.

A representative of the Children’s Division of the Department of Social Services came to the Poplar Bluff Police Department Wednesday, Sept. 4, to report a juvenile in state custody as missing and to report that a parental kidnapping had occurred. It was determined that that juvenile’s foster parent had passed away, and the juvenile’s biological parent had then, without the state’s permission, taken the child and failed to notify the state. This investigation is ongoing.
