Deborah Lee Kollwelter Hayes died peacefully Aug. 23, 2024 after a three year struggle with dementia.

Deb was born in Elgin, Illinois July 18, 1946. She graduated from Larkin High School in Elgin, Illinois and enjoyed making many memories with her sister and many aunts, uncles and cousins at Turtle Lake in Wisconsin during her younger years.

Deb moved to Wappapello, Missouri with her husband, Bob, and son, Matt, in the early 1990s where she spent her time fixing up their farmhouse, taking care of their land, hosting parties at their cabin and pond, worshiping with her fellow church ladies and antiquing with her daughter Dawn. Deb was a very creative and frugal lady and one of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her family.

Deb was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Hayes; daughter, Dawn Polacek; and parents, Elmer Kollwelter and Janet Householder-Kollwellter.

Deb is survived by her son: Matt (Kelly) Hayes of Wichita, Kansas; step-son, Steve (Laurie) Hayes of Genoa, Illinois ; sister, Caroll Willoughby of Saint Charles, Illinois ; grandchildren: Luke Hayes, Bryanne (Tony) Morsch, Braden (Paige) Polacek, Brad (Sarah) Hayes, Tyler (Katelyn) Hayes, Camille Eastman, Vincent Eastman, and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at White Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Justin Sponaugle officiating. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley, Missouri.
