Rube Leroy Smith, son of the late Lloyd Smith and Tylean Gatewood Smith, was born Tuesday, July 23, 1940, in Bragg

City, Missouri and departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 84 years 15 days.

Smith was an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church having served many churches in the area. He was a member of the Coon Island United Pentecostal Church in Neelyville, a retired sheet metal technician and an Army veteran.

On Nov. 19, 1965, in Senath, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Frances Angotti.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Angotti Smith of their home in Poplar Bluff; two sons, Keith Smith of Poplar Bluff, Chris Smith and wife, Rhonda, of Campbell; two daughters, Teresa VanSickle of Kennett, Beverly Shepard and husband, Gary, of Paragould, Arkansas; granddaughter, Brittany Kinnison and husband, Trey of Southaven, Mississippi; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jonathan, Jaxon Kinnison; brothers, Glen Smith and

William Smith, both of St. Charles, Missouri; sisters, Lavon Mungle of St. Charles, Missouri, Judy Bankston of St. Louis, Missouri, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gary Leroy Smith and Timothy Lee Smith; a grandson, Derek Smith; brothers, James Lloyd, Wesley, and Earl Smith and sisters, Lucille Lowe and Magdalene Tice.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug 17, 2024, at Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett.
