Jon David Colclasure Jr., affectionately known as Jay, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at around 6:30 p.m., after a courageous battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Born Feb. 12, 1979, in Flora, Illinois, Jay is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Colclasure, of Carbondale, Illinois, and his cherished Minpin Chihuahua, Jeb. He leaves behind two sons, Christian (and wife Katie) Colclasure of Martin, Tennessee, and Caleb Colclasure of Doniphan, Missouri, as well as a stepson, Riley Damron of Augusta, Georgia, and a stepdaughter, Jordan Heob of Perryville, Missouri. He was a proud grandfather-to-be to his first grandson, Noah Colclasure of Martin, Tennessee.

He is survived by his parents, Jon D. Colclasure Sr. of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Robin Applegate of Salem, Illinois. Jay was a beloved brother to Jill (and Randy) Jones of Poplar Bluff, Eldon (and Chrissy) Colclasure, Hank Winchester and Clint (and Kayla) Winchester, all of Salem, Illinois. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Jay loved the Lord and found joy in traveling and witnessing the beauty of God’s creations. He was known for his ability to make anyone laugh and tell stories that made you feel like you were right there with him. Jay had a generous heart and was always ready to help those in need.

A memorial service to celebrate Jay’s life will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024.
