4-H offers youth activities at Wappapello Lake

The deadline to register for the fun-packed 4-H Day at the Lake is Friday.

The events will be held Aug. 7-8 at Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center at Lake Wappapello. They are designed for two different age group-appropriate activities, said Kim Allison, 4-H Youth Program Associate.

Activities Aug. 7 will be for ages 3-18. Activities Aug. 8 will be for ages 5-7. The cost for each youth is $10 and checks are to be made payable to Butler County Extension.

Those planning to register youngsters will need to provide name, address, phone number, birth date, T-shirt size, parents’ names and telephone numbers.

Each child will receive a backpack full of goodies, Allison said. Lunch will be provided each day.

Aug. 7

Registration begins at 8:45 a.m.

Activities will include:

9 -9:30 a.m. Butler County Fire Department, outside;

9:35-10:05 a.m. Mingo Wildlife Refuge-Snakes, inside;

10:10-10:40 a.m. Andrew Jefferson-Water Safety, inside;

10:45-11:15 a.m. Keith Shelton-Archery, outside;

11:15- 11:45 a.m. John Fuller-Healthy Brain, inside;

11:45-12:15 a.m. lunch break, group picture, gatehouse tour;

12:15 a.m. -1 p.m. craft painting birdhouses, sand volleyball, water relay, Redman lower pavilion;

1:05-1:35 p.m. NRCS- Healthy Soils-Blow Up Arch, outside by pavilion;

1:40-2:10 p.m. Melvin Boyers-Survival 101, outside back porch;

2:15-2:45 p.m. Brad Coleman, pontoon ride;

2:50- 3:20 p.m. Missouri State Highway Patrol, water patrol-boat safety;

3:25-3:40 p.m. closing comments and survey,

Aug. 8

Registration begins at 8:45 a.m.

11:15 a.m.-noon lunch break, group picture, gatehouse tour, parachute game;

Noon-1 p.m. craft painting birdhouses, outside at pavilion;

1:05-1:35 p.m. NRCS, blow up arch and NPA, outside at pavilion;

1:40-2:10 p.m. Missouri State Highway Patrol, water patrol-boat safety, outside by boat ramp;

2:15-2:45 p.m. Andrew Jefferson, water safety session, inside;

2:50-3:20 p.m. Stoddard County EMS, first aid session, inside or water relay, outside;

3:20-3:35 p.m. closing comments and survey.
