For the first time ever, Super Kids Camp is taking kids on four free field trips through Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Parents need to move quickly, however — only 10 openings remain and Thursday, June 20 is the last day to sign up.

Campers in kindergarten through sixth grade will embark on four field trips on Tuesdays in July:

• July 9 — Students will explore the underground wonders of Round Spring Cave.

• July 16 — Students will tour Alley Spring and Alley Roller Mill to learn about the once-bustling community.

• July 23 — Rangers will lead a river wading exploration of the shallow pools and gravel bars in search of many critters.

• July 30 — After learning where the water comes from, students will have a chance to swim, wade, and paddle in the Jack Forks River.

All trips last from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Transportation is provided by a tour bus.

Super Kids Camp 2024 kicks off with an open house at Wheatley School from 3-6 p.m. July 5, and camp activities begin July 8. Camp times are 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday. This year’s roster includes skill building exercises, classes in water safety, educational visits from first responders and a service dog trainer, trips to the Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, crafts, cooking classes and more.

Super Kids Camps is hosted by Succeeding in School tutoring and held at the historic Wheatley School, 921 Garfield St. For more information and registration details, call Director Kathern Harris at 573-776-5073 or Wheatley School at 573-872-4216.
