Events celebrate Juneteenth, support Rayni Day Miracles

Father’s Day weekend offers a variety of ways to celebrate in this week’s MAIN EVENT.

Multiple events are planned to celebrate Juneteenth, and Rayni Day Miracles will host its annual memorial run while a Day at the Park offers other activities.

Juneteenth celebrations will include kickball and 3-on-3 basketball matches, as well as events with vendors, live music and more. (Editor’s note: Additional articles on Juneteenth celebrations can be found in the Daily American Republic’s print and digital editions, as well as upcoming editions.)

Bacon Park will host many of these activities, opening at 10 a.m. Saturday. Food booths, face painting, activities for children and more are planned. The basketball tournament starts Friday at the Black River Coliseum, while the kickball tournament will be held Saturday at Bacon Park.

Rayni Day Miracles will host its memorial run at 8 a.m. Saturday at Hendrickson Park. It offers both timed and non-timed events. This organization serves families with life-threatening illnesses.

Hendrickson Park will also be the site for Day at the Park events, from 3-6 p.m. Saturday. Hosted by Cornerstone Tabernacle UPC, this day offers family fun with free food, games and prizes.

— Get Ready, SWIM, 7-9 p.m. June 14 WHERE Black River Coliseum Aquatic and Fitness Center COST $8 WHAT Hosted by Girl Scouts of Missouri Heartland, this is open to girls of all ages.

— Rayni Day Miracles Memorial Run, 8 a.m. June 15 WHERE Hendrickson Park WHAT This is a 5K (timed) and 1 mike fun run (not timed) event to support Rayni Day Miracles.

Rayni Day Miracles is a nonprofit organization serving children with life-threatening illnesses through a variety of programs at no cost to the children or their families.

— Easton Corbin, 6:30 p.m. June 15 WHERE The Camp COST $30 WHAT Easton Corbin, who recently released the album, “Let’s Do Country Right,” will perform.

— Joseph Habedank in concert, 7 p.m. June 21 WHERE Westwood Baptist Church COST Free, love offerings will be taken. The two-time Grammy nominated Christian music artist will perform.

— Ranger Willie’s Wet and Wild Water Fest, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 22 WHERE Redman Creek Recreation Area, Wappapello Lake WHAT Includes vendors and family activities, including a cardboard boat race. For information, contact the Project Office at 573- 222-8562.

— Independence Day celebration, 4 p.m. June 30 WHERE First Church of God Poplar Bluff, 3482 S. Westwood Blvd. WHAT The public is invited to join in an Independence Day celebration, including pickleball, cornhole tournament, horseshoes, bounce houses, free food and more. Live music will start at 5 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dusk.
