Poplar Bluff Buddy Ball hosted a first time event Friday, with a sold out Valentine’s Dance.

Held at the Westwood Center, it offered families a night out with dancing, photos and a catered meal.

Support for the event came with the help of Poplar Bluff Police Department, Murphy Music & Media,

Lacy Rose Photography, Bluff Church, Terri Weatherford, Henry Collection and Bizzee Bee Catering & Event Planning.

Volunteers and organizations who sponsored tables also came together to create a night of fun for participants, according to the group.

“We want to give a huge thank you to everyone who helped to pull off the first PB Buddy Ball Valentine’s Dance,” organizers shared via social media, adding thank you’s to, “Every volunteer who came early or stayed late to help clean up... Every table sponsor for believing in Buddy Ball and making it all happen... All of our Board Members thank you for pulling together and filling in the gaps and doing all the behind the scenes details to pull it all together.”

The Buddy Ball organization seeks to provide sports services at no cost to persons with mental and physical developmental disabilities. It has grown in recent years to add more events and more teams to its annual baseball season.
