With Christmas just a few days away, Christmas church services are at the forefront of this week’s MAIN EVENT. Bluff First (also known as First Assembly of God) will host candlelight Christmas services at 5 p.m. Saturday and at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday. During these special Christmas services, the congregation will sing Christmas songs, hear an uplighting Christmas message, and enjoy some candlelit moments together as a church family...

With Christmas just a few days away, Christmas church services are at the forefront of this week’s MAIN EVENT.

Bluff First (also known as First Assembly of God) will host candlelight Christmas services at 5 p.m. Saturday and at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday. During these special Christmas services, the congregation will sing Christmas songs, hear an uplighting Christmas message, and enjoy some candlelit moments together as a church family.

The Bluff Church has something different planned this Sunday when it hosts PJs and Pancakes at 9:15 a.m. Christmas Eve. The Bluff Church’s Christmas chefs will be cooking up plenty of pancakes and sausages to get everyone’s Christmas Eve off to a great start. Kids are welcome to wear their pajamas to church that morning. Adults can too, if they wish.

Liberty Hill Church in Stoddard County will host Christmas Eve at Liberty Hill at 6 p.m. Sunday. The congregation invites all to spend the evening with Liberty Hill Worship as they celebrate and worship Jesus Christ.

Other upcoming events include:

— 31st Annual Festival of Lights auto tour, 5-9 p.m. Dec. 21-25. WHERE Redman Creek West Campground, Lake Wappapello. COST Free. WHAT Approximately 250,000 lights will transform the campground into a winter wonderland that will help to bring in the holiday spirit. Local businesses and individuals decorate sites with as many lights as possible. Santa also will make appearances. The event will be open from 5-9 p.m. through Dec. 25.

— Christmas fundraiser bake sale, now through 5 p.m. Dec. 21 WHERE 115 SW Front St., Naylor. COST Free to attend. WHAT The Reese Ainley Foundation will be having a Christmas fundraiser bake sale. Bidding will be in an online auction format like last time and begin Sundayand end Thursday, Dec. 21, with pickup at The Depot Friday, Dec. 22. To donate an item please, contact Reese Ainley Foundation or The Depot of Naylor.

— Crochet College, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Dec. 21. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, 318 N. Main St. COST $5 supplies charge at the door, or bring your own hook and yarn. WHAT Make cat ear beanies and granny square scarves for the winter.

— Book Buzz Club, 6 p.m. Dec. 21 WHERE The Wine Rack, 1212 N. Westwood. COST Free? WHAT Join the Book Buzz Club every third Thursday of the month at The Wine Rack for their social, read-what-you-want book club. This month’s theme is Winter Wonderland.

— Santa visits Moark Regional Railroad Museum, 10 a.m.-4 p.m Dec. 23. WHERE Moark Regional Railroad Museum, Fifth Street across from Black River Coliseum. COST Free. Santa visits the railroad museum. For more information, call 573-785-4539.

— Candlelight Christmas services, 5 p.m. Dec. 23, 9 and 11 a.m. Dec. 24 WHERE Bluff First, 2518 Barron Road. COST Free. WHAT During this special Christmas service, the congregation will sing Christmas songs, hear an uplighting Christmas message, and enjoy some candlelit moments together as a church family. Please note Saturday gathering are a family-style worship service (no childcare or kids services) and Sunday services will have environments for kids of any age available through sixth grade).

— PJs and Pancakes, 9:15 a.m. Dec. 24 WHERE The Bluff Church, 7082 Highway 67 North. COST Free. WHAT The Bluff Church’s Christmas chefs will be cooking up plenty of pancakes and sausages to get everyone’s Christmas Eve off to a great start. Kids are welcome to wear their pajamas to church that morning. Adults can too, if they wish. Following breakfast, there will be worship together.

— All day play, 10 a.m. Dec. 24 WHERE Sky High Indoor Park, 2801 Cheshire Blvd. COST $15. WHAT For anyone who doesn’t have any plans but want to get out of the house. Drop and drive available for parents.

— Christmas Eve at Liberty Hill, 6 p.m. Dec. 24 WHERE Liberty Hill Church, 12760 CR 420, Dexter. COST Free. WHAT Spend the evening with Liberty Hill Worship as they celebrate and worship Jesus Christ.

— Christmas Day dinner, 1-9 p.m. Dec. 25 WHERE Casa Grande Mexican Kitchen, 2027 N. Westwood Blvd. COST Free to attend. WHAT Looking for something different on Christmas Day? Casa Grande and Teresita’s Street Food will have music, Mexican hot chocolate, and fresh food on the grill.

— Open Studio, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 30 WHERE Canvas & Grain Studio, 1097 Highway 142. COST $15 and up, depending on the project. WHAT Join them and paint. Lots of canvas art and wood door hangers to choose from. Projects take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete.

— 70th Annual Poplar Bluff Artists’ Guild Closing Reception, 1-4 p.m. Dec. 30. WHERE Margaret Harwell Art Museum. COST Free. WHAT Awards will be handed out to the winning artists and the People’s Choice Award recipient will be selected. Presentation of awards is at 2 p.m.
