Grace Christian Fellowship’s annual Warm Coats from Warm Hearts winter clothing drive is keeping families comfortable this winter. Coordinator Cassie Rideout said the annual event is geared toward providing not only coats but hats, gloves and even socks.

“The church has been doing it for 20 years,” she said. “What motivates us is the love of Christ and helping people in need.”

She added the faith-based nonprofit distributes over 500 coats every year to individuals in need.

“We also hand out food,” she explained. “We hand out hot dogs, hot cocoa and coffee.”

For volunteer Tammy McClure, this is her second year helping with the coat distribution. She said the love of Jesus, as well as wanting to be kind and helpful is what keeps her working on the project.

“We are trying to warm these people up with, you know, something like this, but we are also trying to warm their hearts and to soften their hearts,” she added.

“We are all in this together,” she said. “We all need to help and to encourage each other.”

Grace Christian Fellowship is located at 3200 Warrior Lane in Poplar Bluff. More information about them can be found on the church’s Facebook page, online at gcfministricsinc.com or by calling 573-778-3633.
