An employee at the Poplar Bluff Junior High School reported at 11:41 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, a soda bottle with liquor in it was seized from a juvenile student on campus. The juvenile was released to a guardian and the matter was referred to the Juvenile Office.

The National Instant Background Check System reported at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, a firearm transfer was denied at Academy Sports. Further investigation determined the transfer was denied based on misdemeanor convictions for marijuana possession (expunged by statute in 2022), and no further action was taken.

Eather Simpson reported at 4:57 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, fraudulent charges were made using her EBT card.

Joann Bedell, 41, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at her residence at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the 500 block of Bartlett Street. Bedell was booked on Montgomery County warrants for dangerous drugs, failure to appear on dangerous drugs, possession of amphetamine, and failure to appear on forgery. She was lodged in the Butler County jail.

An employee at Walmart Supercenter at 333 S. Westwood Blvd. reported at 10:31 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, an adult male previously banned from the property had returned to the store. The suspect was detained and escorted from the store without incident. A criminal summons for trespassing was mailed to the suspect’s last known address.
