The 2023 Broseley Homecoming will offer reminiscing Saturday, as well as a parade, free activities for youngsters, crafts and food.

Events will be centered around the Broseley Senior Community Center, 2470 County Road 650.

“The Broseley Community has been celebrating homecoming since 1999,” said Senior Community Center Director Carol Brotherton. “Prior to COVID, we’ve had as many as 2,000 attend. Since COVID, it’s been down a little. There will still be a big crowd.”

Brotherton, who has been at the center for 10 years, thinks homecoming began “because of people wanting to get together. The ones who grew up in the area and have moved away come back. We have inside the building, pictures that go back to the 1930s.”

Brotherton is expecting a good turnout since the weather forecast shows it’s supposed to be a nice day.

The activities for youth 12 and under will be free. Cornell Trucking is sponsoring the petting zoo.

“We’ll have the bounce house and then we will have a money scramble for kids 12 and under,” she said. “They can bounce as long as they want or pet the animals as long as they want.”

Activities will begin with breakfast from 7-9 a.m. The breakfast menu at the senior center will include gravy, sausage and scrambled eggs.

Booth setup at 7 a.m. Lunch will be from 10 a.m. to noon and live music will be from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Anyone who wants to be in the 10 a.m. parade needs to show up between 9-9:30 a.m. at Twin Rivers High School.

Brotherton said, “There’ll be someone there to line them up. You don’t have to fill out a form or anything. Just show up.”

All of the money generated inside the senior building will be used to help buy food and supplies for the seniors.

The Silent Auction ends at 1 p.m. The Pit Boss Five and One Smoker Raffle drawing will be at 1 p.m. The tickets are $1 or six for $5. The winner doesn’t have to be present to win.

Amanda Boswell is in charge of the vendor booths and she may be contacted on Facebook or by calling 573-328-1126. Booth rental fees are electric $20 and nonelectric $15.

“We have different crafts booths and anybody who wants a booth may contact her since we still have booths available,” Brotherton said.
