Polly Stitz

Polly Ann Stitz, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023 surrounded by family, after a second battle with CNS Lymphoma.

Polly was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Fisk, Missouri, daughter of the late William Matthew and Susie Monehan.

On July 4, 1964 she was united in marriage to Alvie Stitz. He survives. Also surviving is their daughter: Sherry (David) Battles; four grandchildren: Erika (Koty) Thomlinson, Chris (Amy) Battles, Joel (fiancé Cori) Battles, and Brendan Battles; and four great-grandchildren: Kamdyn Thomlinson, Bryson Battles, Kinsley Battles, and Elliott Battles. Polly’s most treasured title was Gigi. Also surviving are seven of her 11 brothers: Leon, Joe, Leroy, Richard, Dale, Glen, and Ronnie. Preceding her in death: Cleo, Eugene, L.C., and Larry.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Hassel Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
