Labor Day is one of the busiest weekends of the year as many people celebrate the traditional end of summer, so there is plenty going on in this week’s MAIN EVENT.
Doniphan will have a parade and a quilt show on Saturday, while Ellsinore also will host its own Labor Day Festival that day featuring live music, a pageant and a fundraiser for the family of one battling cancer.
For those looking for something a little different, the 4-H Animal Art Exhibit begins with an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and runs through Sept. 12.

— Doniphan Labor Day parade, 10 a.m. Sept. 2. WHERE Throughout Doniphan. COST Free. WHAT The procession of the parade will begin at the city’s north end at 10 a.m. and wind its way through Doniphan toward the final destination, the Ripley County Courthouse.
— Trey Clevenger live, 10-11 a.m. Sept. 2. WHERE Bluff Town Mercantile and Coffee House, 2787 Tucker Road. COST Free. WHAT Come enjoy brunch and a coffee while enjoying live acoustic music.
— Ellsinore Labor Day Festival, TBA, Sept. 2. WHERE Brodie Gargac Memorial Field. COST Free. WHAT Several events will be happening throughout the day, including live music at noon with Southern Grace, a fundraiser for the Devin Carter family at 11 a.m. and a pageant at 4 p.m.

— Footsteps Poplar Bluff Medical Clinic, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 9. WHERE Black River Coliseum. COST Free. WHAT Footsteps Medical Missions will be providing a free medical clinic. Services provided: medical, diabetic foot care, wound care, hearing exam, cardiology, hair care and hearing aids/glasses if prescription is available. — Night Sky Stargazing, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9. WHERE Big Spring, Ozark National Scenic Riverways. COST Free. WHAT View our dark skies unhampered by urban light. A special ranger program will orient you to the night sky, teaching you to explore and find your new favorite constellations. Bring bug spray, chairs, and flashlights. Telescopes and binoculars are also welcome.
