David Savat

David Edward Savat, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

David was born Jan. 8, 1948, to Bill and Lucy (Brands) Savat in Cape Girardeau. He married Paula Faye Dial July 1, 1972, in the St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville, Missouri.

David grew up and attended school in St. Eustachius Elementary and went on to attend St. Agnes Catholic High School in Springfield, Missouri. David was a proud alumnus of St. Mary’s College in Lebanon, Kentucky. David was an active member and supporter of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and school in Poplar Bluff. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. David’s true passion was agriculture and he farmed row crops. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his time working on the farm. He enjoyed a good home cooked meal. David had a giving and kind heart. He especially loved pestering and spending time with his grandkids.

David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Paula Savat; three children, Mischelle (Shane) Tibbs, Justin (Stephanie) Savat, and Dava (Corey) Daves; six grandchildren, Tabatha, Tristyn, Grace, Macey, Kayla, and Waylen; four siblings, Tim (Carla) Savat, Mary (Kenny) Tackett, Russell Savat, and Jamie (John) Stokes.

David was preceded in by both parents.

Visitation will be held from 4 -6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Daniel Robles officiating. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School.
