Officers responded at 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of West Midland Street. No injuries were reported and no charges were filed.

An employee at Missouri Children’s Division at 1903 Northwood Dr. reported at 10:23 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, a parent left a threatening message on his voicemail. The same parent left a second message which apologized for the first message.

An employee at Hobby Lobby at 715 North Westwood Blvd. reported at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, a customer wrote a large check to pay for a purchase, then returned the merchandise at another store location. The check was returned to Hobby Lobby as a bad check.

A silver 2015 Cadillac passenger vehicle was impounded and towed at 3:14 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, from a traffic stop on Park Avenue after it was determined the registration was expired and the vehicle was not insured. Two pistols were found inside the vehicle, and the driver and a juvenile passenger were detained during the investigation. One of the weapons was claimed by the adult driver and it was released to him at the scene. The second pistol was seized pending identification of its rightful owner.

Kobe Grogan, 19, of Poplar Bluff, approached a traffic stop on Park Avenue and interfered with the investigation at an undisclosed time. Grogan was taken into custody and transported to the police department. He was booked on a charge of interfering with an arrest and released pending review by the prosecutor.

Van Rhodes complained at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, that a musician performing on a parking lot in the 3000 block of Oak Grove Road was disturbing him at his residence in the 2900 block of Oak Grove Road. An officer spoke with the musician and he agreed to play at a lower volume.

An adult female reported at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, she was assaulted by her boyfriend at their residence in the 600 block of North Seventh Street the day before. The suspect left the scene before the police were notified, and the matter was referred to the prosecutor.

Officers responded at 5:14 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, to the 1300 block of Benton Street for a report of shots fired. Kyle Blanchard, 23, of Essex said he had been shooting a target behind the residence. Blanchard was issued a summons for discharging a firearm inside city limits and he was released at the scene.

Officers responded at 9:01 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 100 block of East Relief Street. No injuries were reported, and no charges were filed.

A staff member of Southeast Missouri Regional Services at 2351 Kanell Blvd reported at 9:06 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, that a resident used profanity and threatened other residents during a confrontation in one of the units. The parties were separated, and the complaint was referred to the prosecutor.

Colton Howell, 25, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, on Neat Street. Howell was booked on a probation/parole warrant for parole violation with no bond and he was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Brice Allred, 26, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 12:19 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at his residence in the 700 block of Lester Street. Allred was booked on charges of second degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, assault on a law enforcement officer, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Butler County jail.
