Russell McGowin

Russell Gene McGowin, 87, of Fisk, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Memory Lane Skilled Nursing, in Dexter, Missouri. Mr. McGowin was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Deering, Missouri, son of the late Bennie and Opal McGowin.

Russell was a hard worker and a wonderful provider for his family. He loved farming so much that he did not retire until he was 80 years old.

He greatly enjoyed fishing, so much so that he and his wife had a second home in Florida where they spent every winter for the last 50 years.

On April 5, 1953, he married Glodenia White McGowin.

She survives. Also surviving are two children: Donna (Steve) Brown and Diane (Robert) Manns; two grandchildren: Kevin (Angela) Brown and Dustin Manns; and great-grandson: Harmon Brown, all of Broseley, Missouri; and three siblings: James (Shirley) McGowin of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Dola Chaffin of Fisk, and Patty (Don) Rhodes, Fort Worth, Texas.

In addition to his parents, Russell was also preceded in death by two siblings: Bob and J.C. McGowin.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Ash Hill Cemetery in Fisk with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating.
