A Poplar Bluff man currently sits in the Butler County jail after he allegedly molested a child.

Tyler R. Longhibler of Poplar Bluff is charged with the Class B felony of second-degree child molestation involving a child under the age of 12.

According to the probable cause statement by Poplar Bluff Police Department Detective Bryce Colvin, the Missouri Child Abuse Hotline received a report on March 2 that a 10-year-old boy was reportedly picked up by Longhibler and driven to Longhibler’s house, where the boy was allegedly sexually assaulted.

The boy was forensically interviewed on March 13 by Cindy Hutchins at Great Circle. During the interview, the boy reportedly told Hutchins he was informed by a teacher Longhibler was going to pick him up from school, which Longhibler later did.

The boy went on to say he was sleeping later that evening at Longhibler’s house and awakened to allegedly find Longhibler inappropriately touching him — and that Longhibler later sexually assaulted him.

After several attempts to locate Longhibler, Colvin contacted him on June 2 and arrested him, according to reports. Longhibler has denied assaulting the boy, court documents said.
