Enjoy dinner and a show — and help feed those in need — with this week’s MAIN EVENT highlights.

This Friday the Historic Rodgers Theatre is unveiling a new movie screen. Rodgers will be showing the animated comedy “Ratatouille,” with doors opening at 6 p.m. The movie will start at 7 p.m. The concession stand will also be open. The film is free to view, and tickets for dinner cost $10.

Dinner will be spaghetti from Castello’s. Tickets for the meal must be purchased ahead of time and can be found at Myrtle’s and the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce.

The US Postal Service is holding the Mail Carriers’ Food Drive on Saturday at mailboxes across Poplar Bluff. Residents are invited to leave non-perishable food items in bags next to their mailboxes to be picked up by letter carriers during their rounds. The food will be delivered to local food banks.

Tickets can be purchased at Myrtles and the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce for dinner, which will be spaghetti from Costello’s. The concession stand will also be open.

— Letter Carriers’ Food Drive, May 13. WHERE All private mailboxes. COST Free. WHAT The US Postal Service is making a special delivery to food banks. Participants should put their non-perishable food donations in a bag by their mailboxes, where they will be picked up by postal workers.

— Northside Community Center Yard Sale, 8 am.-12 p.m. May 13. WHERE Northside Community Center. COST Free admission. WHAT A community yard sale.

— Fundraiser Yard Sale for the Animals, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 13 WHERE Animal Welfare Alliance No-Kill Animal Shelter. COST All proceeds benefit the AWA. WHAT The shelter will be selling pet toys, supplies for small animals, reptiles and fish, pet costumes, and more. Staff will also raffle off a handmade quilt, tickets are $1 for a single ticket and $5 for six.

— D&D at the Library, 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May 13 WHERE Poplar Bluff library, Main Branch WHAT Open to grades 7-12, youth are invited to hone their skills in the Demigod Games.

— Mother’s Day Dinner, 7 pm. Sunday, May 14 WHERE Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce COST $25 WHAT Hosted by Eventastic and Sugar & Crumbs, this will include a mimosa bar, desserts and activities. Must be 21 to attend.

— May Storytime, 2-3 p.m. May 18. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library Ridgel Branch. COST Free. WHAT Ladybug and Bumblebee storytime.
