In this week’s MAIN EVENT, kids and adults all have reasons to get outside.

Early risers can hit the trails at the 10th Annual Wolf Creek Trail Run on Saturday, sponsored by the Chamber and the Poplar Bluff Kiwanis Club. Participants will meet at the Wolf Creek Hike/Bike Trail. Choose from a 1.7 mile WTF (Walk the Forest) hike or a 6k run at 9:30 a.m., or a half marathon beginning at 8 a.m. Registration costs $30-$35 depending on the event and includes a complimentary T-shirt and any medals won. Registration is required at ultrasignup.com or through the event post on the Facebook pages of Kiwanis Club - Poplar Bluff MO and Poplar Bluff Chamber. Proceeds benefit Kiwanis Bacon Memorial Park.

The Black River Coliseum is holding their second-ever Easter egg hunt on Saturday as well, with prizes and candy. Age groups are infants to 4 years old, 5-7, 8-10 and 11-14. Start times are staggered. Beginning with the youngest group first, egg hunts take place noon-1 p.m., 1:15-2:15 p.m. 2:30-3:30 p.m. and 3:45-4:45 p.m.

On Sunday morning, West Side Church is giving its annual Easter at the Rodgers service at the Rodgers Theatre. The event begins at 10 a.m. There will be free concessions, confetti cannons for families and much more. Attendance is free, but an offering will be taken up to benefit the historic building’s ongoing restoration

WHAT An hour-long education session about fiber optic internet for individuals, families and organizations. — Teen hangout night, 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 7 WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library WHAT Games, food and more. Open to ages 12-17.

— 10th Annual Wolf Creek Trail Run, 8 a.m. April 8. WHERE Wolf Creek Bike/Hike Trail. COST Half marathon $35; 6K $30; 1.7 mile walk $30. Includes T-shirt and medals. WHAT Join the Poplar Bluff Kiwanis Club and US Forest Service in enjoying nature and supporting Kiwanis Bacon Memorial Park. — Annual spring highway clean up remembering Traci English, 10 a.m. April 8 WHERE Highway 60 East WHAT This begins at 10 a.m. and is organized by Erin English Deaton and Renea Forsythe.

— Hearts for Rescue Easter Fundraiser, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 8. WHERE Petco. COST Free admission. WHAT Hearts for Rescue is raising money with pre-made Easter baskets and baked goods. Visitors can even meet a few adoptable dogs.

— Second Annual Easter Egg Hunt, noon April 8 WHERE Black River Coliseum Aquatic and Fitness Center COST Free WHAT The age groups will be 0-4 years old (noon-1 p.m.), 5-7 years old (1:15-2:15 p.m.), 8-10 years old (2:30-3:30 p.m.) and 11-14 years old (3:45-4:45 p.m.). Prizes will also be given out.

— Community Easter Egg Hunt, 2 p.m. April 8. WHERE Fraternal Order of Eagles in Poplar Bluff. COST Free. WHAT The Junior Order of Eagles of Bluff City Aerie #3730 is hosting a community egg hunt for kids ages 10 and under. The hunt will take place in the Eagles building back lot.

— Easter at the Rodgers, 10 a.m. April 9 WHERE Rodgers Theatre COST Free WHAT A service will be offered by West Side Church, along with free concessions, confetti cannons for each family and more. An offering will be taken up with all proceeds going to the restoration of the Rodgers.

— Easter service and egg hunt, 10:30 a.m. April 9 WHERE First Baptist Church WHAT A contemporary Easter service will be offered, followed by an Easter egg hunt.

— Recycled Art, 10:30 a.m.-noon April 10. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, Main Branch. COST Free. WHAT Celebrate Earth Day with Recycled Art! All ages are welcome to make unique art with recyclable materials.

— 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 15. WHERE National Stars and Stripes Museum and Library, Bloomfield. COST Free. WHAT The museum is holding two egg hunts for different age groups: kids 5 and under will search for Easter eggs inside the museum at 10 a.m., and kids 6 and up will search in the field behind the barn at noon. The Easter Bunny will appear for photo ops in a WWII-era Jeep, and children can also visit the Easter Activity Station.

— Silly Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 15 WHERE Black River Coliseum COST Free WHAT The first 400 children will receive a free book. Activities include kinder songs concert, entertainment, crafts and activities, games and Earth Day art show. Hosted by Children Ready to Enter School Committee in partnership with the Butler County Community Resource Council. Information will be provided on child care services, nutrition, children’s fitness and more.

— Yoga Basics, 10:30-11:30 a.m. April 15. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, Main Branch. COST Free. WHAT A yoga class presented by Kara Cummings. All skill levels welcome. Be sure to bring a yoga mat or towel and wear comfortable clothing.

WHAT For National Poetry Month, the library is calling all poets, writers, rhymers, and spoken word lovers to present their poems at the Poetry Jam. Poems do not have to be original. All participants will be entered to win a prize.

— The Pajama Game, 7 p.m. April 28 and April 29 WHERE Tinnin Fine Arts Center COST Free WHAT The Three Rivers College music department’s annual musical is about a union strike at a pajama factory that “generates plenty of heat in this toe-tapping, comedic love story.”

— Ozark Mountain Daredevils, 7 p.m. April 29 WHERE Black River Coliseum COST $25-$75 WHAT The band, which got its start in 1971, will perform hits like, “If You Wanna Get To Heaven,” “Jackie Blue,” “Chicken Train,” “Standing On The Rock.”
