“Don’t let definitions fool you” will be the topic for Melody Dolle-Ducote’s program at the Women Aware quarterly luncheon.
The program is at noon Wednesday, March 22, at the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce.
“This presentation is geared toward how, as women, we define ourselves — the roles we play as well as the definitions placed upon us by others, and how we allow this to affect who we are,” Dolle-Ducote said. “This can be a good thing, or it can have a devastating effect on us. I hope to inspire women to dive deeper and see who they are based upon facts, not definitions.”
Dolle-Ducote is the ROSS Service Coordinator for the Poplar Bluff Housing Authority. She was born and raised in Poplar Bluff and is the daughter of the late John and Ruth Dolle.
She graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1985, then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational communication with minors in education and English from Tarkio College. After college, she worked in the non-profit sector in Kentucky, Ohio and Texas.
In 2013, she moved her children back to her hometown, where she worked for HHS Environmental Services, and Haven House, Inc. She currently serves as the secretary of the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit Alliance.
She has three children: Meredith of Sarasota, Florida; Nicholas of Dallas, Texas; and William of Cape Girardeau.
She is a member of Westside Church in Poplar Bluff, where she is active in their women’s ministry and serves on their worship team. In her free time, she enjoys songwriting and outings with her family and her tribe of friends. She has the most fun training to be a grandparent by spending time with her “greats”: Catie, Collins, Remmie, Stetson, KJ, Karis, Hayden, Maeve and Ruthie.
The event is sponsored by Ozark Federal Credit Union. Those planning to attend must RSVP no later than Monday, March 20, by contacting Davine Connover at davine@ozarkfcu.com, or calling or texting 573-429-1780. Tickets are $10, and Karon Campbell with Tasteful Creations will be catering.
Ozark Federal Credit Union has volunteered to sponsor the cost of the luncheon as part of its educational outreach to the community, so 100% of the luncheon ticket supports the Women Aware Conference expenses.
