Poplar Bluff business woman Patricia Jo Boyers is one of 10 recipients of the second annual Lieutenant Governor’s Women of Achievement Award.
“I am humbled and so honored,” Boyers said. “Especially since the lieutenant governor established this award to honor his own mother, who sacrificed so much for him and his family as he was growing up. What a woman to aspire toward. I shall do my utmost to live up to the standards by which I was chosen for this award.”
This is the third honor Boyers has received since 2019. She is president of BOYCOM Vision, a cable and broadband provider in rural Missouri. Boyers and her husband, Steve, started BOYCOM in 1992.
The announcement was made this week by the lieutenant governor.
The other recipients include Tammy Buckner of Kansas City, Anetha “Eky” Combs of Kennett, Joan Daleo of St. Charles, Wendy Doyle of Kansas City, Meagan Kaiser of Bowling Green, Cora Scott of Springfield, Carol Watanabe of St. Louis, Robin Wenneker of Columbia and Angela Zeng of St. Louis.
The 2023 Women of Achievement Award recipients will be honored at a ceremony in the First Floor Rotunda of the Missouri State Capitol at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 23.
The state award was established in 2022 by Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe to recognize the diverse accomplishments of Missouri women in conjunction with Women’s History Month.
“My life was greatly impacted by being raised by a single mother of six, and we created this award to honor the incredible accomplishments of women across Missouri,” said Kehoe. “These 10 recipients are diverse in talent, from agriculture to entrepreneurship, and community service to leaders in not-for-profit work. This Women’s History Month, we are proud to share the high achievements of these award recipients and celebrate successful Missouri women, past and present.”
In 2019, Boyers was one of three to be named as a “Wave Maker” and one of five women featured on the November 2019 cover of Cablefax as industry leaders.
In September 2022, Boyers became the second person from Missouri ever to be inducted in the Cable Hall of Fame in the 25 years of their existence. Boyers pointed out in 2022 year she was one of the “151 folks with whom I share this award, I am only the 26th woman ever.”
