Throughout the event, Kendahl Chergosky and Holly Bagby introduced the public to Willard the red-tailed hawk, Solo the peregrine falcon, Farnsworth the barn owl, Alejandro the harpy dagle, Duncan the wedge-tailed eagle and McGwire the bald eagle. The public got up close and personal viewings and even photography with each bird of prey. Farnsworth even spread his wings and flew straight above the crowds’ heads, allowing for a realistic wildlife interaction.

After the introduction and informative session on the birds, MDC provided the public an opportunity to get their photo taken with McGwire the Bald Eagle. MDC hopes to welcome back the World Bird Sanctuary next year for more fun and wild bird viewings.

The World Bird Sanctuary states that it serves to protect and preserve birds and their habitats, and visualizes a world where birds and humans can live cordially. The sanctuary offers educational programs to the public, conservation breeding for endangered species and wildlife rehabilitation.
