An employee at Poplar Bluff High School reported at 10:01 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, a juvenile student was found in possession of a THC vaping device. The vaping device was seized and this matter was referred to the Juvenile Office.

Officers responded at 12:58 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, to the 1400 block of Big Bend for a young child found wandering the neighborhood wearing only a diaper. A guardian contacted the officers and said the child walked away from the residence. Children’s Division responded to the scene and spoke with a parent.

An employee at 10 Box, 1301 Shelby Road, reported at 4:46 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, a group of adults stole liquor and food items from the store. Officers recognized one of the suspects from store video footage and the investigation continues.

Valerie Velazquez, 42, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, during a traffic stop on South C Street on a Poplar Bluff Municipal warrant for failure to appear on no insurance. Velazquez was unable to post bond and was released on her own recognizance.

Robert Shouse, 41, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 5:34 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, after he allegedly assaulted an employee at 10 Box, 1301 Shelby Rd. Shouse was booked on suspicion of assault third degree and property damage. He booked into the Butler County jail.

He was booked into the Butler County jail.
