David Vilagy, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died at home on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022. He was born Oct. 30, 1941 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to David Vilagy Sr. and Elizabeth (Toth) Vilagy, both Hungarian immigrants. David Vilagy, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died at home on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022.

He was born Oct. 30, 1941 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to David Vilagy Sr. and Elizabeth (Toth) Vilagy, both Hungarian immigrants. After his parents died, he was raised by foster parents: Paul and Verilla Lipscomb in Poplar Bluff.

On July 18, 1980, he married Brenda Rollman. She survives.

Also surviving are his niece: Vicky Perlo of Puxico, Missouri; nephews: Stephen Smith of Webster, Texas and Jack Smith of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law: Glenda Rollman and Mary Lou Peace, both of Poplar Bluff.

David was a merchant seaman as Captain on Ocean Tows for 30 years. He also owned rental property in Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Byron Beck officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
